the TDD (Time Divison Duplex) variant is more complicated:

Mobile Unit and Base station transmit on the same frequency, using different timings.

with Wideband-CDMA in TDD mode 2Mbit/s are possible.

In Germany TDD is only deployed by Vodafone in a few large cities
